SAP ratings

A SAP rating must be done for a proposed new-build dwelling before it can achieve the latest buildings regulations compliance (2006 Part L1A).  The aim of part L is to conserve fuel and reduce CO2 emissions (by 20% compared to previous building regs) for new dwellings. A property will not achieve building regs compliance if the predicted amount of CO2 emissions (the dwelling emission rate or DER) is greater than a target emission rate (TER).

Alpha energy assessments offer a comprehensive SAP rating service.  For the quoted price we will include the following:

1. Full calculations of all elements including U-values
2. Advice on how building compliance can be met if the original plans fail to achieve compliance
3. Unlimited minor revisions to design before compliance is achieved

This is a service which aims to make it as easy and stress free for you as possible.  All you need to do is to supply us with scaled plans, including sections, front and rear elevations and site plans with detailed descriptions of the materials used for the various elements of the house and a short questionnaire of heating, lighting and ventilation elements.

Pricing

We offer a time based pricing structure of £50 per hour for an assessment. We will not offer a quote until we have seen the plans so we can judge how long the assessment will take, although we will aim to complete the work within 2 to 4 hours. No extra money will be charged for advice given or minor revisions to meet building regs compliance. If any major changes are required a new quote will be required for the extra work.
